Jul 31st, 2009 “Top 5 Dislikes of Life On The ”

Hey guys. Coming to you from the Caribou Coffee Shop in Cleveland, OH this afternoon. I've got 5 shows this weekend here in the buckeye state and I have a little time to kill, so I thought I would give you guys a little something to read in your spare time. So today we are talking about Pet Peeves of the Road, and so without further adieu here's my top 5:

1. When I listen to a top 20 countdown on a local radio station, I always lose the signal before I get to number one.

2. When I order my hamburger at a drive thru fast food restaurant, I hate it when I open the wrapper and there is an excess of ketchup covering the outside of the bun and the wrapper. Because of this I have started ordering my burger plain and applying my own condiments to ensure an even and proper distribution.

3. The 15 mile stretch of Interstate 65 south of Louisville, KY. It is by far the bumpiest paved road I have ever traveled. The last time I drove it, my girlfriend turned to me and said, “Does your car have shocks?”

4. Gas stations that require you to buy something to use their bathroom facilities. Is this legal?

5. And finally, the worst thing about being on the road is being away from my wonderful girlfriend, Colene. I love you, babe, and I’ll be home soon.

May 28th, 2009 “What Is The Goal?”

"What is your goal with music?" Lately I have had several people ask me this on separate occasions, and it has caused me to really step back and decide upon the best answer. For the past couple months this is one of the things that I have been reflecting on. Obviously, there can be any number of answers that are correct depending on the individuality of the artist and what he/she feels strongly about. I, however, feel called by God to do what I am doing. Therefore, it is very important that I go to Him for my answer as opposed to just deciding upon a "good" goal and going for it. First and foremost let me begin by saying today's plan of action could change tomorrow, and that is why it is of the utmost importance that we all (not just me) go to God daily and ask Him what He would have us do with this day. As a Christian, it is dangerous to decide a plan of acion and then not check in with God regularly to see if we are still on the same page as He is. But as for me at this point I feel called to witness to the small churches of the nation. Here in the South there is a church (mostly small ones) on every corner and many of them are filled with people who need something to smile about and something to help them regain their focus. For those of you reading this who have grown up in church, you know that there can be just as much heartache going on inside the four walls of a church as is going on outside. So one of my goals is simply to try and bring some inspiration to these people through music.

It is important for me to realize that as a Christian, any goal I have or set must be in line with the Word of God, because the ultimate goal is to bring glory to Him. Its easy to get caught up in setting goals and acheiving goals, but if those goals are not based out of the Word of God, they hold no eternal worth. I feel like as long as I seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, I know God will follow through with His promise that comes in the second half of that verse (Matthew 6:33) which says: all these things will be added unto you. Simply put God is saying, "You take care of my work, and I'll take care of you." Sounds like a good goal to me...
