Live Oak Baptist Church, Denham Springs, LA 08-08-10
I had been very much excited about my return visit to Live Oak Baptist, because the first time I visited their church back in April of ’09, I had one of the most receptive concerts ever. So you can imagine how happy I was to see the people of Live Oak take part in another wonderful show this past Sunday morning. There were very few empty seats in the house, and the audience was great to sing along, clap along, and even do a little dancing. OK so dancing is a stretch, but there was some pretty heavy swaying back and forth going on during, “The Friend Song.” You know what I’m talking about, Donny;) And while we’re naming names, I just want to say that the staff at Live Oak is outstanding for so many reasons. I’m so glad I am friends with them now. Bro. Howard, Donny, and Johnny have such a heart for ministry and missions, that it truly inspires me. Thanks guys and keep up the good work. I hope to see you all again soon. P.S. Donny can you mail my capo back to me? I left it on the boom mic stand. Thanks.
Hebron Baptist Church, Denham Springs, LA 08-08-10
This past Sunday evening was the first time that I have had the privilege of sharing with Hebron Baptist and I am so glad I got the opportunity. On the lighter side, I have to say that this is the first time in my 3 years of sharing concerts with churches that I have ever started a concert on the heels of a church business meeting. I bet this was the most people they ever had in attendance at a business meeting ;) Nevertheless, business was short and sweet, which gave me the rest of the time to share. Right off the bat, I could tell that this was going to be a good concert. They didn’t even hold it against me when I told them I went to school at UT. That’s amazing coming from such a devout LSU crowd! And afterwards, I got to meet so many great people. I even autographed a couple of foreheads. Which for Southern Baptists is about as crazy as it gets (I can poke fun because I’m Southern Baptist, too). Afterwards Destry (the music minister) and his wife treated us to Chili’s which capped off a most amazing day in Southern Louisiana. Thanks and hope to see you all again soon!
