Summer, Satellites and More

Saturday night was a much anticipated back to school style youth rally that I got to be a part of. At the beginning of summer, a friend of mine told me he was planning an event and he wanted me to help. I told him of course I would. And so was born the first annual, “Adios Summer.” My favorite part of the whole weekend was getting to hang out with this awesome new band called “Satellites and Sirens.” They are the real deal, and I would definitely buy their CD, except for the fact that I pulled the old CD swap with them. For those who don’t know, the CD swap is when you go up to another band playing at the same event as you and say, “Hey (insert band member name), you wanna trade CDs?” That way we both get new music for free. Simple enough, right? My second favorite part of the event was the amazing brownies that they had backstage. I’ve eaten a lot of backstage brownies in my day, and these were by far the best ever. They were store bought, but no one could tell me where they came from, and I was very saddened by this. And finally the most favorite (most favorite > favorite) part about my weekend was the location of my Sunday morning show. I got the opportunity to sing at Calvary Baptist Church in Batesville, MS, which is twenty minutes from my house! Therefore, my wife and I actually got to wake up in our own bed Sunday morning, and then return to our house shortly after the service. There can be no price assigned to this luxury, and so it was a good day for me and Colene. The people of Calvary received us both with such love and generosity, and we will surely return for a visit if there is ever a free weekend in the schedule! Thanks again to everyone who made this another successful weekend!
